A year ago we went to Grand Canyon but was never able to get a copy of this video from my brother's video phone... until now. There a lot of these videos... I will edit it before posting them. This is more or less a teaser...

Coming from a business trip in Cincinnati, I decided to visit my brother in Phoenix Arizona for the weekend on the way home to Manila

I visited Old Scottsdale one more time and see more of the city and the expensive art galleries ($4,500 for a painting is the usual price I saw!).

I also had a chance to return to Sedona... a tourist destination 1 1/2 hours drive from Phoenix. I had a chance to hike and enjoy the scenary one more time. Sedona is definitely a place you'd want to go to and return from time to time. The weather was great and being 4,000 feet above sea level, it usually is cooler there. This time of the year is the best time to go... just cool enough for a hike and enjoy the clear skies.

Returning to Phoenix, me and my brother went up Pinnacle Peak, a popular destination for tourist and locals alike. Joggers or folks out for a leisurely walk would go up this hill and have a grand view of Phoenix and Scottsdale all the way! Aside from the huge sequoia cacti, we also saw rattlesnakes along the way... nice!

Unfortunately, I did not have my DSLR camera... so took all these pictures using my trusty SD600 point and shoot.

Has it been a year already?!? The picture here was taken just last year when I visited my brother in Arizona on Thanksgiving. This holiday is big in the US... it is the time when the family get's together kind of the same tradition that we have back home on Christmas holidays.

But after all the merry making and family get-together... all of US braces itself for BLACK FRIDAY! The day when every store goes all out to give the biggest discounts and the best deals! And they can become ridiculous!

It all starts on Friday... early morning. And I mean early!!! As early as 4am! For the more popular stores like Best Buy, people camp overnight to be in line first and get that $300 dual core laptop or that $750 42" Plasma TV or a 100DVD spindle for $1 before the stock runs out. Part of the fun is the hysteria... you and the mob goes shopping all fighting for that great deal! Just like eating together fiesta style for dinner... it is a lot more fun to eat when you have to compete to get more from the table than the next guy beside you.

The ads only come out on Thursdays newspapers on what would be the items on sale in each store. But of course, with the internet, spoilers abound. Sites such as BFADS.NET and BLACKFRIDAY.INFO have posted the ads (leaked) weeks or even months in advance. People have been busy making their Christmas shopping list since!

You can find videos of the madness in youtube: http://youtube.com/results?search_query=black+friday+shopping

In the age of digital cameras, almost anybody can be a photography enthusiast. May it be a simple point and shot or the an expensive SLR camera's, the picture is only as good as the photographer that captures it.

Here is one candid shot I took when I was in a trip to Arizona with my brother (front) and friends.

Yes, there were hundreds of pictures I took of the Grand Canyon, but this was one of my favorites just because it captures our moment there and tells the story of our trip to Arizona.

One of many group pictures we had on our Arizona Trip. This one in Sedona at the start of our late afternoong trek.

Taken by Rodney, I loved this semi-posed pictures which makes more of an interesting story to tell in a picture.

I was fortunate last week to have had the chance to visit my older brother in Phoenix Arizona for Thanksgiving. At the very least, the weather would be much more comfortable there and this would also be the best time to visit the deserts of AZ. Summer there would hit as high as 118F... yeah sure, it's dry heat but still!

I knew AZ is a desert but I didn't expect that there would be cactus plants along the road! I definitely thought that was interesting.

It was also my first thanksgiving. My brother prepared the turkey, his first time to do so and it tasted great! That all-night marinade paid off.

Right after dinner, we prepared for what apparently has become one of the US traditions... planning for the next day.. BLACK  FRIDAY! The day when all stores have ridiculously great deals and open much earlier that Friday morning! Using the newspaper that thanksgiving day, we had the catalog of items on sale from all stores which we used to plan for the next day. Yes, we woke up at 4:30am and we were at Best Buy,Circuit City and Stables at 5am! It was a crazy scene as everybody else seems to be up early for the sale! The nearest thing in Manila to black friday is Midnight Madness sales but here it has become a yearly ritual!
